A Weekend In New Orleans

Earlier this month, I decided to visit New Orleans. New Orleans is so close to Miami, the flight is only an hour and a half, (If that), so why not? New Orleans is a beautiful city filled with rich history, so much, that many consider New Orleans to be one of the most haunted cities in the world. I decided to make the trip a ghost hunting trip.

I stayed at Hotel St. Marie, located right in the center of the French Quarter. Hotel St. Marie was built around 1806, and is exactly what I was looking for. It's located on the cutest little street, Toulouse Street, and my room had a balcony with a great view. The location is very convienent- you're already in the French Quarter, so you can walk to all of the tourist attractions and picture perfect streets from the hotel.

The view from my room's balcony.

I wanted to shoot this gorgeous Lulu's gown right in front of my hotel, because the setting was so beautiful. This look made me feel like a real Southern Belle. It was actually raining when we took this picture, but I think the wet streets add so much life to this shot.

I arrived on a Sunday, and spent my first day in New Orleans walking around the cute little streets of the French Quarter, seeing all of the sites, cafes, and gift shops. I had dinner at The House of Blues, which had an amazing menu. I highly recommend eating lunch or dinner here when visiting.

Music is huge in New Orleans. New Orleans is the birthplace of music icon Louis Armstrong. It is very cool to see locals performing live music on the streets of the French Quarter. This particular performance looked like it was straight out of a movie.  Couples were dancing, and it was almost like I had gone back in time for a minute. There is really nothing else like this, it was a very rememberable moment.

New Orleans is well known for the practice of voodoo and psychic readings. In fact, most people visit New Orleans just for a psychic reading.

Every building in the French Quarter is filled with so much history. I love the plants each balcony has.

This is a picture from the back of the St. Louis Cathedral located in Jackson Square.

Set by Elliatt. Booties by Kendall + Kylie.

Dress from Lulu's, necklace from BaubleBar, Sunglasses by Sunday Somewhere.

The one place I really wanted to see in person was Hotel MonteleoneSince 1886, Hotel Monteleone has provided luxury and historic accommodations for travelers to New Orleans. It is also known to be one of the most haunted hotels in the U.S. In fact, there is supposedly a ghost of a little boy named Maurice Begere who walks the 14th floor, after dying from an illness in one of the rooms. Of course, I had to go to the 14th floor (which is technically the 13th floor), and take pictures of the hallways myself.

I did not see any "ghosts", but I did get creepy vibes on the very quiet and cold hallways of the 14th floor. I took a break from ghost hunting and went down to the 2nd floor, where Hotel Monteleone offers a fantastic spa where you can get anything from a mani-pedi, to a massage.

Walking through Saint Louis Cemetery No 1. This cemetery is from the 19th century and has above-ground tombs. I highly recommend visiting this historic site. You can see the infamous tomb of Voodoo Queen Marie Catherine Laveau, and even the tomb Nicolas Cage has purchased for himself when he passes.

The very last place I visited in New Orleans was Café Du Monde. Cafe Du Monde is a famous cafe open 24 hours in the French Quarter, and are known for their delicious fried beignets. The beignet is a square piece of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar. They are served in orders of three. You truly have to taste them yourself to understand how amazing they are. It didn't hurt to have an equally amazing hot chocolate while eating them.

Delicious beignets that are so good, Kim Kardashian flew to New Orleans just to eat them.

I have been very into red tones lately. It may because the Holidays are right around the corner! I am so excited for The Holiday Season, it is my favorite time of year. Variations of red tones are trending right now. From bright red to bordeaux, you should incorporate more red into your wardrobe this season.
I shot this look in the West Village in NYC a few weeks ago when it was warmer. Red dresses are great for holiday parties, because you can steal the show easily. My dress is by The Jetset Diaries, and can be styled with a leather jacket and booties for a cool evening look. My adorable cross body bag is by Furla.
