I got the chance to visit a city I've always wanted to visit earlier this month, Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston did not disappoint, and is one of the cutest historic towns I've ever been to. It was must larger than I realized, so I didn't get to see everything or visit the beach, but I did however visit the main downtown areas. I loved walking down the cobblestone streets, and learning about the history of this 353 year old city. Yes, that's right, Charleston was founded in 1670, and is named after Charles II of England.
I stayed at the very artsy Vendue Hotel, located in the beautiful French Quarter. The Vendue is definitely one of the top three hotels in Charleston. The entire staff is so friendly, and the hotel and rooms are French-inspired. Each hotel room door even has a cute french bull dog head statue on it. The Vendue's location is a prime location, centrally located, with fabulous art throughout, an amazing steak house, called Revival, and a very cool rooftop restaurant with stunning water and city views.
Like visiting any city in the Summer, it was HOT. The whole city is walkable, but I recommend having cold water with you, and comfortable shoes. Every corner of Charleston is historic, and photographable. The historic European vibes were everything. All of the buildings are so colorful, and have beautiful landscaping and plants growing throughout. The most beautiful parts to me were the beautiful churches that are so old, and have so much history.
There are restaurants, and shops all over Charleston, and there is always something to see. I especially loved the main shopping area, King Street, which is over 300 years old. King Street is so fun, and has the majority of stores and restaurants. You definitely have to visit King Street if you go to Charleston. I highly recommend visiting The Shops At Charleston Place for luxury shopping, located inside the stunning Charleston Place Hotel.
I can't wait to be back and see more of this gorgeous city. I would love to do a family trip here, as it's perfect for groups. You must visit Charleston at least once in your lifetime.
xx
