MY FIRST TIME IN CHARLOTTE PART 1: GRAND BOHEMIAN HOTEL

After my recent Florida staycations, in both Miami Beach and Palm Beach, I headed north to visit my mom who recently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, aka the Queen's City. I had never been to North Carolina before this trip, so I didn't know what to expect. I think Charlotte is such a large and fast growing city, I loved the Uptown area, and the South Park areas the best. Charlotte is the heart of the New South — very modern, while embracing its Southern roots.

Charlotte is called the Queen's City, named after Britain's Queen Charlotte herself. The same Queen you see in Brigerton, who coincidentally loved Pomeranians and had a pack with her at the Palace. There are even crowns on all of the street signs in Uptown Charlotte. Uptown reminds me of a tiny NYC, with a train, (the train is a common way to get around in Charlotte, as it's located right in the center of each part of the city just like NYC making it very convenient), and lots of tall buildings surrounded by parks.

Louie and I stayed at my mom's house mainly, but we also stayed at the very chic Argentinian-influenced, Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte, an Autograph Hotel. This hotel is gorgeous!

The Grand Bohemian has gorgeous decor, vibrant velvet furniture throughout, and is chandelier paradise. I had a spacious King Suite overlooking the city and beautiful historic church across the street. My favorite part of the hotel was the South American Restaurant, Mico. Not only was the restaurant absolutely beautiful, with great service, the food was so delicious and flavorful.

I recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have a truly fun and luxurious first time in Charlotte. I did not visit the Spa, but they do have a Spa, a Starbucks in the lobby, and a rooftop bar called Búho Bar.

I also took my mom to a fabulous French restaurant for brunch, that's just a few blocks away called, La Belle Helene. Let's just say the chef was actually French, and everything we ordered was incredible. My favorites were the French onion soup and the crepes. I highly recommend staying in Uptown while visiting Charlotte, since everything is walkable and close by. (Read Charlotte Part II here.)
