Christmas in Calabasas

I spent Christmas in Calabasas, a city I have actually never been to before. I stayed at the very minimalist and modern Cambria Calabasas, which is nestled between the Santa Monica Mountains, and and offers stunning views and great natural lighting. Cambria Calabasas has a home away from home feel, and is close to Malibu so you can explore both cities during your stay.

I loved everything about this hotel, from the super nice and helpful staff, to the cleanliness of the hotel, the location, the amenities (I absolutely loved the fireplace lounge area outside),and the hiking path right behind the hotel. The hotels's restaurant, Malibu Canyon Bar & Grill, offers delicious modern American cuisine and I definitely recommend the giant pretzel and brussel sprouts to start.

This stay was a 10/10 stay, where do I even begin? I had a very large apartment-like suite, and I truly felt like I was in a Hallmark Christmas movie. I love the kind of staff where everyone knows each other and everyone is so friendly, and they make you feel like family. I loved eating outside in the crisp cool weather by the fireplace. That's one of my favorite things to do in life is sit by a fireplace. Although it was too cold to hang out near the pool this trip, the pool area is such an ideal area to hang out also.

On Christmas Eve we went on a hike on the Juan Bautista de Anza trail, which is right behind the hotel. The entire hike to the top (300 foot elevation), and back was about 50 minutes and was so relaxing, and great exercise. The trail was empty, all I could only hear were the surrounding nature sounds, and it was exactly what I needed.

I also really enjoyed visiting Downtown Calabasas, The Commons at Calabasas, during my stay, which is where all the shopping and dining is. There are a handful of restaurants, shops (including my favorite See's Candies), a Sephora, a grocery store, and even a movie theater. The actual outdoor shopping area is so beautiful. I definitely fell in love with Calabasas.
