My Birthday Celebration At Mandrake Miami

I wanted to start posting more personal blog posts on Jasmine Tosh Lately because I love that you guys like to follow my life and always ask for more. Not to worry, I will still be posting my weekly outfit posts, plus travel posts.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Mandrake Miami, (located in South Beach near the W South Beach), and had one of the best birthdays ever. I have never had a birthday where I could dance at my table with my friends to live music by a DJ. If you know me, you know I drank plenty of rosé and danced all night to latin music, not to mention Suavemente - haha! Mandrake is an amazing restaurant if you like to have fun!

I have thrown a birthday dinner celebration for the last five years in Miami with my closest friends. It's a tradition I started because I love to throw a themed dinner. (Prime 112 was a Parisian themed birthday with little gold Eiffel towers and confetti all over the table, and a Christian Louboutin shoe box cake with a black red bottom pump on top. At the Versace Mansion, I had a beautiful pink cake with a gold Versace medusa head as the top layer. At Zuma last year, I had a stunning Louis Vuitton "travel trunk" cake that was so beautiful and realistic.)

I absolutely love themes, and I always do an over the top and fun cake. Also, I got a ton of questions on where my hot pink dress (click here for my dress from Oh Polly - more colors available.

This year I wanted to change things up, so I chose to have a painting of me on the cake wearing my line, Tosh Swimwear at a photoshoot I did in April. The picture of me was hand painted on a sugar base, making it edible! Below are photos from my birthday. Click here and here for videos from the actual Instagram posts.

MY SECOND TATTOO MEANING

Last year I got my first tattoo a day before my birthday, (I just decided I wanted a tattoo and got one the same day), and this year I wanted to get a second tattoo the day before my birthday- exactly one year later. Of course I went back to the best place in Miami, Iris Tattoo Studio. They have the most talented artists and everyone is so friendly.

Rustem did my tattoo and he did an amazing job and made me feel so comfortable. Honestly, just like my first tattoo (on my wrist), it didn’t even hurt! Rustem created a few different angel wing sketches, and I picked my favorite one. I wanted very dainty and small angel wings. I am very happy with my tattoo, and I’m so happy to have been able to go back to Iris Tattoo Studio! I highly recommend Iris Tattoo Studio to everyone wanting a tattoo.

Angel Wings

I chose a small angel wing tattoo because I am a very spiritual person, and it has great meaning to me. I believe that we all go through life with the guidance of our guardian angels, and I feel that I have had multiple personal experiences that prove this to be true. As a Virgo in the zodiac, (I am a true virgo too btw), we are known to be healers, and my tattoo meaning is also a symbol of protection. I feel a deep connection to my tattoo, and even though I won't be able to see it, unless I am holding a mirror to see the back of my neck, I know it is always apart of me. Will I get another tattoo? That is undecided. You never know where life will take you. But If I do, it would be another very tiny tattoo.

My Birthday with Basic Invite

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I usually celebrate my birthday almost the whole month of September. Why not, life is short! My birthday is in two days (September 20th), and I always love to throw a birthday dinner celebration with my closest friends.

I recently found an amazing website called, Basic Invite, that has the cutest invitations for any life occasion! (Click here to check out their elegant birthday invites). Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you select a design you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different color options so you can make sure the card is exactly how you want it down to the littlest detail.

Basic Invite stands out because they're one of the few websites that allows customers the ability to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so they can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before they ever have to place their final order. Interested in adding a personal photo to your invitation? Click here to shop birthday invites with the custom photo option.

Basic Invite offers an address capturing service that allows customers to simply share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other form of social media to request their friends and family’s addresses which will be stored in the customer’s account and can then be selected during the design process. FYI: Basic Invite offers recipient address printing at no cost on all Christmas card orders!

Guess what?! Right now, Basic Invite is offering 15% off with coupon code: 15FF51

FEARLESS

I don’t like writing tedious long blog posts, especially when they’re very personal. I got my first tattoo last week- the day before my birthday. I never thought I would have a tattoo (ever), and I didn’t even have plans to get one until the afternoon of September 19th. I believe birthdays are a new year for people, and a fresh start. A new beginning to regain your confidence and make new goals for yourself, while still continuing to chase the dreams you already have for yourself.

It just came to me: I want to get a tattoo. Somewhere that isn’t hidden, somewhere that makes a statement, but definitely not too big. I decided I wanted it on my right arm near my wrist. I knew I wanted it to be a word. I knew I wanted it to be in beautiful cursive writing. But, I didn’t even know where to begin. I hadn’t even researched anything, let alone the tattoo place I would go to.

Getting a tattoo is a big deal. With almost everything in my life (especially important things that can potentially affect your health), I always spend weeks researching the best places to go. I asked a few friends if they had any recommendations. None of my friends really have tattoos. This was a new world for me. I googled "best tattoo places in Miami", and in the top five I found, Iris Tattoo Studio. Not only did they have amazing reviews, but I like the fact that they were real artists and it was like going into an art studio. Most of the reviews said that they felt right at home, and I loved that.

To make a long story short I contacted them, and that same day I got an appointment at 5pm. I showed up at 4pm, an hour early because I was so nervous, and as soon as I walked in, I did feel right at home and very comfortable. All of my worries immediately vanished. Maria did my tattoo and she did an amazing job and made me feel so comfortable. Honestly, it didn’t even hurt! It mostly felt like an annoying continuous cat scratch. Best of all, it only took ten minutes. I am very happy with my tattoo, and I’m so happy I did not go anywhere else! I highly recommend Iris Tattoo Studio to everyone wanting a tattoo.

Fearless

I chose the word "fearless" because it has great meaning to me and I love that whenever I write, or look down at my arm, I can see it.

I have been through so much in my life, I feel like I’ve already lived through several lives in just one lifetime. I moved a lot growing up,(since I was born), and went to five different high schools from Las Vegas to The Washington D.C. area. As a teenager, not being in one place for more than a year has honestly strengthened me as a person and has helped me become the strong woman I am today. I am an only child who was raised by a single mom, so I’ve had no siblings to go through anything with. I have always relied on meeting new people and making friends. Today, I feel like I can talk to anyone and I can do anything. For those that know me, know that this is so true.

I moved to Miami (I drove from Northern Virginia not knowing anyone or never having visited the state of Florida before) by myself, with only my rescue dog Duchess, and have been here since 2011.

I didn’t want just any tattoo, I wanted something with meaning. I got the word “fearless” in cursive on my wrist because it will remind me everyday to be just that. I have been through so much in my life, and this is just a daily reminder to not go through life with fear, but to be fearless.

My 27th Birthday At The Palazzo, Las Vegas

For my 27th birthday, I wanted to go to Las Vegas. I stayed at the beautiful Palazzo Las Vegas. This hotel is stunning, and is the sister hotel to The Venetian. Nearly double the size of your average Las Vegas hotel room, The Palazzo's standard Las Vegas hotel suites have everything you need and more. I loved everything about The Palazzo, from the ideal location on The Strip, to the variety of gourmet restaurants, to the endless entertainment, shopping, and casinos.

I spent three nights, four days here. Normally, that is a super long stay for a Vegas trip, but The Palazzo hotel has so many things to do (including The Aquatic Club at the pool, and Canyon Ranch Spa), it's actually hard to be bored.

In fact, I wanted to do absolutely everything there was to do, between The Palazzo and The Venetian. If I were to state I had so much fun during my stay, that would be an understatement. The Palazzo truly makes you feel like it's your home away from home!

(My room service breakfasts were seriously the best. The food is amazing here! Pictured above: Tiramisu Pancakes and a Cafè Latte.)
